Yes, it's quite a purchase, meaning i will have to poor a lot of my self into using it for the justification of the purchase. It's the largest purchase i have made since i got my macbook pro last year.

why the 1d? shooting sports lately?

Mostly because of its low light abilities and how lush the images look even at 3200 iso, i will be shooting bands etc live for a local club, not for my portfolio or anything, but for the venue to use/display/sell, etc.

I prefer it over the 5d, personal preference really.

ah, i see. well, makes sense - the higher pixel density is a good thing then. i'm curious about the 5d mkII or however it is called... can't wait to make the switch. finally ultra-fast primes and no stupid change in FOV.

oh besides: did you hear about the auto-focus issues?

yeah and it depends on the lense you use etc. They have a fix for the focus issues now, its a matter of time before they release the work order.

i plan on getting a 5d with the 24-70, 35/1,4 and 135/2. i so can't wait to finally have fast primes again...
